'Tofu, mock meat': Here's Virat Kohli's diet during ODI World Cup

Virat Kohli has been India's batting mainstay at the ongoing ODI World Cup at home. With 354 runs in five innings, he is India's top run scorer so far and is only behind South Africa's Quinton de Kock in the run-scoring chart in the tournament.

Along with his batting, Kohli has been a livewire on the field with his fielding. He might be 34 but is one of the fittest cricketers in world cricket, mainly due to his meticulous diet plan and monk-like focus in sticking to it.

A chef from one of the hotels where the Indian team stayed during the ongoing World Cup revealed Kohli's dietary preferences during the ODI World Cup. In an interaction with Times of India, Anushman Bali, executive chef at Leela Palace, said that since the star batter does not eat meat, they opted for steamed food, like vegetarian dim sums, and other vegetable-based proteins, like soya, mock meats, and lean proteins, like tofu.

He also said that they included “as little dairy as possible” in Kohli's meals.

The ragi dosas were Team India's favourite for breakfast, Bali said. "We have millet dosas, millet idlis and quinoa idli on the menu. All the players know it's healthy protein, so they all tried it,” TOI quoted Bali as saying.

He also added that there's no alcohol unless a team is celebrating a win.
