Airtel prepays Rs 8,000 crore spectrum dues
Airtel said its payment is in continuous focus on its financial flexibility through the capital structure that includes the cost of financing optimisation
Telecom major Airtel on Monday underlined that it prepaid amount of Rs 8,024 crore to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), a part of its deferred liabilities for the spectrum acquired in the 2015 auction.
The telecom company said the installments were paid with an interest of 10 per cent, leveraging the much lower cost of financing available to it.
Airtel said its payment is in continuous focus on its financial flexibility through the capital structure that includes the cost of financing optimisation. It also concentrates on capitalising all opportunities for significant interest savings, like the latest prepayment, the company said additionally.
